linen
Here at DeLin we specialize in linen and only use natural linen 100% or mixed with hemp, cotton or new wool.
Linen is made from flax and was systematically cultivated thousands of years before Christ. Linen experienced a special heyday in the Middle Ages and has retained its high reputation as a natural product to this day. Along with wool, linen was the most important material used in the manufacture of clothing. With the increasing perfection of cotton processing and increasing cotton imports, linen lost its importance, but has regained popularity as an ecological natural fiber in recent decades.
Linen clothes used to cost a lot of money and were worth their weight in gold. The price of linen textiles was determined as follows. Linen textiles were worth their weight in gold, and gold of equal weight was given for them.
Ruffling / rippling / roasting / rotting / drying / breaking / swinging / panting
Linen is nature's strongest and most resilient fibre, has unique bacteriological properties and is less prone to wear and tear. With the right care, linen garments can be worn for many years! Do not wash too hot and like to let it air dry, and no small tip: ironing a little damp makes it easier.
Linen has a cooling effect, is breathable, smooth, strong and has a cool hand. Linen fabric is absorbent and skin-friendly. The natural fiber is permeable to air and dirt-repellent.
Basically, linen is a very sustainable product because it is a native natural fiber that is biodegradable. In addition, flax gets along well with little fertilizer and pesticides, which is why it is ideal for organic cultivation.
Here we use a classic, versatile linen fabric with naturally occurring slubs. This plain weave linen fabric has an earthy and natural feel, is initially crisp and softens with wash.
Every DeLin product is a gift, even if you make it yourself, and we hope that DeLin customers will pass on their favorite pieces.
